The 25th All Saints Episcopal Church Garden Tour

Calling all botanists and other flower lovers. The coveted All Saints Garden Tour will take place Saturday, May 19, 2012. In its 25th year, the tour will be hosted by the All Saints Episcopal Church in Hilton Head. This year’s theme is “A Potpourri of Gardens,” and will feature eight of the most beautiful gardens on the island. The tour event runs from 10 am to 4 pm.

The following gardens are on display this year:

•“An On-Going Labor of Love Garden” in Hilton Head Plantation
•“A Mini-Landscape Garden” in Sea Pines
•“The Arboretum” at Port Royal Plantation
•“A California Meets the South Garden” in Leamington
•“Our Happy Place Garden” in Port Royal Plantation
•“A Kaleidoscope Garden” in Hilton Head Plantation
•“The Hilton Head Island Elementary School for the Creative Arts Gardens”
•Bonus: “The Two Gardens of All Saints: The Barbara B. Hodges Columbarium & The Spirit Garden”

Tickets are $30 each and are available at the church on the day of the event, as well as various retailers located on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton. The cost of the ticket includes a seated luncheon. A bake sale, gelato booth, organ music entertainment and a flower boutique will be located in the parish hall. Artwork will also be on display and for sale. Various other vendors will be on-site. Other demonstrations and activities will be ongoing throughout the event. RBC Heritage to Showcase the Best in PGA Talent

Spectators are gearing up to visit Hilton Head for the 2012 Heritage Classic PGA Golf Tournament. South Carolina’s only PGA tour will be held April 9-15, 2012 at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head.

Hilton Head Island is a world-class golf destination year-round, and for any golf enthusiast this is the ideal time to visit the island and get in on the fun. The upcoming RBC Heritage tournament has hosted some of the greatest names in golf, including golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tiger Woods, and Greg Norman. Proving that the RBC Heritage’s reputation for attracting the best names in golf remains intact, this year’s RBC Heritage field includes a wide variety of players, from seasoned pros to young novices, including Corbin Mills, who earned an exemption into the 2012 RBC Heritage as winner of the 2011 Players Amateur Tournament, and three local professional golfers, Kyle Stanley who lives in nearby Bluffton, SC, Mark Anderson who grew up in Beaufort, SC and was the 2008 winner of the Players Amateur, and Savannah, GA native Brian Harman.

Selling Your House In A Buyer’s Market

Although selling your Hilton Head home in a buyer’s market can be a challenge, there are steps you can take to make it easier. You will be competing with other motivated sellers to get a buyer interested in your house so consider these 5 staging techniques to increase the appeal of your property.

1. Clean and Tidy. The yard is the first thing buyers will see, make sure the lawn is mowed, your sidewalk is swept, the driveway has been power washed, and all the flowers are alive and clipped.

2. Keep and Give Away. Take the time to look around the house, what do you need to keep and what could you give up? The give-away pile should be stored somewhere outside of the house. The rooms may begin to look bare to you but to a buyer the rooms look spacious and they can begin to picture their own belongings in the home.

3. Balance. Be sure each room has a balance between hard and soft surfaces. Take into account flooring as well, whether you have carpets or hard flooring should help to dictate the amount of hard and soft surfaces in each room.

4. One or Three. These are the essential number of objects you should have on a given surface. Large surfaces should have three objects staged in a triangular arrangement where as smaller surfaces should have only one object.

5. Spotless. When a seller is showing their home they need to be sure the house is immaculate. Pay attention to the small details, flies in the windows, dust on ceiling fans, even the crevice between your toilet and tiles – buyers will notice these things.

Coastal Discovery Museum Celebrates and Preserves Lowcountry Heritage

The Museum is currently located at the historic Honey Horn, a plantation which was opened for public use in 2007. Faith ‘n Begorrah on Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island’s 29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on Sunday, March 11, 2012. The parade is scheduled to take place rain or shine, and is designed to be family-friendly. The parade usually attracts crowds of 20,000 or more people, and is considered to be one of the Top 20 Tourism Events in the Southeast every March. The parade always features a wide variety of decorated floats, Shiners, clowns, marching bands, dignitaries, and marching units.

The floats are a big part of the annual parade, and include business floats as well as floats done by non-profit groups. All floats are decorated to fit the holiday’s Irish theme, with plenty of shamrocks, leprechauns, and other green decorations found everywhere. These floats will compete for five awards given at the end of the parade. And, even in an election year, you won’t be seeing any political messages because they’re not allowed! Everyone can come, relax, and enjoy the parade.

The Parade will start at 3:00 P.M., beginning at the entrance to the former Smokehouse/temporary Fire Station. The parade route follows Pope Avenue until turning left at Office Park Road, finally ending at Park Plaza. PGA pros extol Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, home to The Heritage, as the second best golf course out of 52 on the PGA Tour, ranked second only to famed Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia. Harbour Town opened in 1969 and the way players approach the course hasn’t changed much since. Designed by architect Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus, the award-winning course underwent major renovations in 2001 that makes it “year-round tournament-ready.”
